July 25 Finally..............the room picturesThe room is finally done!
I bought plain lampshades and then glued some beads around the bottom. July 24 When Will It End? I am SO ready for summer to be over with. It is so blasted hot here! Yes, I realize that it is hot all over the US but that doesn't affect me now does it? Besides, most other places have A/C - which is virtually unheard of in the Pacific NW. It was miserable this weekend with the average temperature being around 93. And we didn't even get that much relief at night - it still remained in the 70's. Thank goodness we had 6 fans running in the house 24/7 (they're still on).
My poor family who came to visit - I felt so bad for them since we didn't really do much while they were here. (They are the same ones that came from Canada for Easter.) On Saturday they went down and picked up their new dog. He's a 4-year-old Beagle and he's really cute. We're thinking he might be having an identity crisis though because I don't think he knows what his name is. His first name was Colonel, then Seth, and my Aunt wants to call him Nelson. We'll see which one works. Him and Pooh got along well - as long as Pooh wasn't trying to hump him. It's so embarrasing when another dog is over at our house because no matter the size, breed, or gender our dog will try to hump the other one to death. And you would think he would learn because at the end of the day Pooh Bear can barely make it up the stairs to the bedroom because he's so damn sore. My Aunt Gail and I went over to Woodinville for a little while and did some shopping. I found some lampshades for the guest bedroom and we bought some beads to dress them up a bit. Once I finish putting the room together I'll take some final pictures.
Sunday we woke up to another hot day. That afternoon Jim, Dakota, and Mike went to Superman over in Everett. Logan napped for a bit and once he woke up Gail, Logan, and I went over to Lake Stevens and then over to Everett for a bit. We came home in the late afternoon and just relaxed.
The weatherman is saying the heat is supposed to be leaving us but I'll believe it when I see/feel it. I hate waking up in the morning and instantly being hot. I've showered so many times this weekend I think our water bill will be double what it normally is. I just hope the heat leaves us before we have Logan's birthday because otherwise his cake will be coming from the store since there is no way I will be turning the oven on! July 20 It's All Done! The bedroom is finished! And I think it looks great. I finished it at 3 o'clock today and I thought I was going to die from the heat. Of course it HAD to get over 90 here today and since I was painting a room that faces south the heat was beating down on me the whole time. Thank goodness I only had to do one coat on the window wall - I had done the other coats Wednesday. The pictures are just of the walls. I haven't hung the curtains yet or put everything back to where it belongs. My family will be arriving early tomorrow evening though so I don't have much time to get it done. I think I need to do all my home improvement projects with this type of deadline!
My Aunt, Uncle, and soon-to-be 5 year old cousin will be here tomorrow. They are coming down from Canada (they were here for Easter) to pick up a dog for Dakota's birthday. They found a Beagle for free on Craigslist down here and figured it would be a good reason to come visit and Dakota would get a dog. I just hope everything is OK with the dog - I made a vet appointment for him so that they can get him checked out before they leave.
July 19 Project Time!! When do home improvement projects ever end?? I'm just wondering because it seems like we'll have something upgraded or improved but then once that one thing is done we need to do another two or three things so that the improvement is officially finished. Let me explain:
We've had our new windows for about 3 weeks and I have since bought some new curtains. And today I made the decision to paint in the spare bedroom. The previous owner's of the house had painted sections of the room a light blue. I'm finally painting it to match the comforter that we have in there. I decided just to paint the wall with the window on it and the doorway (this area was also painted blue). Here are the before pictures - hopefully the after ones will be up by tomorrow or Thursday. We have some family coming into town on Friday so it definitely needs to be done by then. Wish me luck!
Notice the blue painted section
Lovely blue door-frame
July 18 Updates on LoganI have no stories to tell so I'll just update everyone on what Logan's been up to:
July 16 Do you think Shout! will get it out?? Saturday Logan & I hit one of the fruit stands out of town. We found some yummy stuff including blueberries, cherries, peaches, and a honeylope. A honeylope is a cross between a cantaloupe and a honeydew. If you ever see one of these buy it - they are awesome!!
As soon as we got home I gave Logan some blueberries to see if he would like them. He not only liked them - he devoured them!! He couldn't eat them fast enough. I am so happy he is such a good fruit eater. I have yet to find a fruit that he won't eat.
This morning though we got to see what happens when a baby eats nothing but blueberries the day before. Let me just tell you, his diaper was black. Yup, he ate so many blueberries it came out black. Lovely huh? Well that's not the best part. Later today when we went to change the second poopy diaper of the day his butt was stained - purple. Yes, Logan has a purple butt right now. So I ask you - what do you recommend to un-stain your babies bottom? All suggestions/comments welcomed.
BTW-Mike is now referring to him as "Smurf bum" July 14 A Doctor's Visit Today I took Logan into the doctor - he developed a rash on his back. We're pretty sure it's from the antibiotic (Sulpha) that was prescribed to him at the ER. Our doctor has now switched him to Amoxicillin - hopefully the rash will go away. He wasn't affected by it but it was a little disgusting when I would wash his back and it was all................bumpy.
On the plus side the doctor said the ear infection is almost gone. Logan will just need to be on the medicine for another 5 days.
Oh, I have new video to put up but FileLodge has a 2 mb limit right now instead of their usual 50 mb. Wait until you see it - Mo you are going to love it!! He does something just for you at the beginning of it - can you catch it?? Hopefully I'll be able to upload it next week. July 12 He Never Stood A ChancePoor, Poor Elmo!
If anyone has any information as to how this happened please
CALL 1-800-MUNCHKIN July 11 ??It's Nice To See You?? Have you ever had a boss/manager that if you never saw them again that would be fine? Yeah, me too - I think we've all had them. Well, I saw mine today. Logan was feeling better this morning so I decided to run over to Everett to go to Michael's. I wanted to buy the cake pan for his birthday cake. Logan & I walk through the door and I see him. I instantly turned the other way. I finished my shopping, paid, and was out the door - without having to talk to him (or so I thought). I got Logan out of the cart and then made the mistake of taking the cart back into the store. He was standing Right.By.The.Door. I was hoping he didn't notice me, but of course I'm not that lucky! We made some small talk and then I used the excuse that I better get Logan home for a nap. I was actually impressed with myself that I was so civil.
So, wanna know why he was such a bad manager? He hardly ever let anyone take time off, especially department managers (which is what I was), he was completely condescending to his employees, and he was sexist. But the worst thing of all? My uncle passed away suddenly in November of 2000 and I took emergency leave to go back to ND for the funeral. I was gone for 5 days. My parents and brother came out for Christmas that year and I had put in the vacation request before he passed away. About 2 weeks before my family was to come out he informed me that I could not take the vacation anymore. I asked why and his response was, "You just saw them in November." I informed him that that was an unexpected visit - if you could even call it that. He still told me that I would not be able to take the time-off. I somehow managed to take a couple of days off by switching my schedule with some of the other managers and coming in early to do my ordering. Somehow I managed to continue working there until June of 2001. I finally put in my notice and took the summer off before I began working at the bank. EVERYTIME I asked to take time off for family though he would always say that to me. What a jerk huh?
**Sidenote**
He doesn't even work at the store that I was at - he was helping them out for a couple of days. See how luck I can be? July 10 A Conversation HeardMike: "Oh God, I thought that was you"
Tanya: "Nope that was your son grabbing your nipple"
Mike: "I see you've taught him well"
Tanya: "Thank you" July 09 Weekend Wrap-UpFriday
Friday morning I woke up with the most excruciating pain in my left shoulder. I have no idea what happened but now just to lift up a glass it hurts horribly. So imagine how much fun it's been taken care of a little one. It's agony just to lift him to his crib. Thank goodness Mike was able to come home a little early to help me with him. I hope this goes away soon - if it's not gone by Monday I think I'm going to go to the doctor.
Friday night I did some cleaning and rearranging - on my space. I condensed some stuff and moved some other things around. It was just starting to get to busy on my main page and I didn't want any new readers to be overwhelmed by everything. Let me know how you like it!!
Saturday
Logan woke us up around 9 am - I made him a bottle and then went back to bed. Until noon - yup, noon. It felt so good to sleep in for so long, especially since I hadn't gone to bed until around 2 for the past week. Saturday was an overall lazy day. I got some little things done - the rest of the laundry, loaded the dishwasher, I even fixed dinner - but nothing major. Logan managed to take an hour nap, then woke up for about an hour, and then went down for another nap. That lasted over 3 hours. Yup, we were just a lazy bunch today. So, so nice!!
Saturday night was not fun. Logan went to bed before 7 pm - then woke up around 9:30 and from that point on was up mostly all night. He would sleep for about an hour and then be back up again. There was nothing we could do to calm him down. He wouldn't eat anything and would not even take a bottle.
Sunday
Logan finally fell asleep around 5:30 am and managed to sleep for about 3 hours. When he woke up though he still had a fever and refused to eat anything. At around 10:30 we decided to take him to the ER. Luckily they weren't busy and we didn't have to wait to see the doctor. They took his temperature - which was 101.5 and weighed him - he's up to 23 lbs. 15 oz. After looking in his ears it was determined that he has an ear infection, in both ears. The doctor wrote us 3 prescriptions for him and we were on our way. We were there for less than an hour - impressive huh? We then went and got everything filled. Trying to give medicine to a baby is virtually impossible. Logan would not lay still and refused to open his mouth. I managed to shoot some in just to have him cough and spit it out. We decided to try a while later. Logan laid down for about a 45 minute nap and when he woke up he was still cranky and had a fever. I decided to give him a bath and boy did that help. He was almost back to his old self - he stayed in there for about 20 minutes. Once we got him out I tried to give him the medicine again and this time it worked much better. I was able to give him about 1 tsp. of Tylenol with Codeine. It made almost an immediate difference! Once he had that medicine I was able to get the ear drops in him. When everything kicked in our little Logan was back to normal. It was such a relief not to have him crying constantly. I just hope it continues to work and that his ears heal quickly. This is the first time Logan has really been sick - thank God that we have a healthy baby! July 07 Other Blogs To Check OutHere are some other blogs I enjoy!
MSN Blogs I EnjoyHere are all the blogs I read on a daily basis - Enjoy!!
He Did It!! Logan walked tonight - and I missed it!! I cannot believe that I didn't see it. Mike & Logan were downstairs in the living room and I was up in our bedroom reading. Around 8:30 Mike yelled for me to come down quick. I, of course thought that something had happened to Logan. So I came rushing downstairs to see what was going on and I found Logan & Mike sitting on the floor. I asked what was going on and Mike told me that Logan had just taken about 4 steps. Mike startled him though when he yelled up to me so Logan stopped walking. We tried to get him to do it again but he wouldn't.
And would you like to know the reason I was upstairs and missed this moment? Because I needed some alone time - Logan had me at my whit's end before Mike got home. He would not stop crying no matter what I did. Once Mike got home we ate dinner and then I went upstairs for a break. And this happens - can you believe it?? Maybe he did it to spite me. July 06 The New Momma Around Here As Logan gets bigger and older he is babbling more and more. Some days while we're in the car we'll hear a constant chatter of mamamamamamama, babababababababababa, and if we're lucky dadadadadadadadada. It's so cute how he is able to entertain himself and make himself giggle by doing it too.
Lately though something bad has been going on. He's been saying some stuff that is offending a particular person in this household....................his Daddy. Logan will look Mike in the eye and call him one of the worst words a man could hear - Mama. At first Mike thought it was funny and would instantly tell him to say Dada. But Logan would just keep rattling off Mamamamama. Then it started to get ugly - Logan would crawl over to Mike and say "Mama" and Mike would look at him and say, "I'm not Mama - I'm Dada". Logan thought that was the funniest thing and would just continue to say Mama and Mike would be crushed. I think we might have a bruised ego around here for awhile - please pray for my husband's sanity. Forever Fresh Cookies 1 cup butter 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1 cup vegetable oil 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup white sugar 2 cups cornflakes cereal 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup oatmeal 1 egg 1 cup coconut flakes 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Stir in cornflakes, oatmeal, coconut and chocolate chips. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets, 2" apart. Bake in a preheated oven for 12 minutes, or until slightly browned. Remove from oven; allow cookies to cool 5 minutes on baking sheets before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
Happy Belated 4th!! It is a little after 1 a.m. and I am still awake. I have no idea why - I think I'm overtired or something. We had a great time tonight! We had about 15 people up to our place for a BBQ and tons of other yummy food! Everything was great. Logan did really well around all the new faces (new in that he hasn't seen them in about 2 weeks) - and showed off his crawling and flirting skills. He found one little girl especially cute and turned the charm onto her - eyebrow raising and all.
He got up from his nap at around 2:30 today and at 5 I decided to try to lay him down for one more nap so that he would be able to stay up for some of the fireworks. He was having none of that napping! He did fine until about 8:00 and then he started rubbing his eyes and sucking on his fingers so I made him a bottle and tried to put him to bed. He slept for about 45 minutes but the fireworks were just getting started and all it took was one giant BOOM and he was awake. I came up to the house (we live on a cul-de-sac so we were down there watching the fireworks) and calmed him down. I put him down again and less than 10 minutes later he was up again. It began sprinkling outside (never fails on the 4th!!) so I decided to just come up to the house for good. Some of the other ladies joined me so we were able to visit while the fireworks went off. It was perfect too since our bay window faces the street. Logan stayed up for all the fireworks and even enjoyed them. I think it helped since I had the windows closed so the BOOMS weren't quite as loud. He just stood on the couch and ooh'd and ahh'd at all the pretty colors. July 03 It Might Have Been A Step!! This morning after Mike left for work (of course) Logan took a little step! I was in the bathroom getting dressed and Logan was crawling around. He stood up next to the toilet, let go, and took a little step with his left foot. Then he wobbled a bit and took another little step with his left foot. After that he plopped down on his butt. He hasn't come close to doing that since - he's gone back to his old ways of walking around the coffee table. I'm sure he will be walking in no time and then I'll be wishing he was back to crawling!!
Tonight when Mike got home he held his arms out for Logan..............and Logan took a weebly-wobbly step towards him and promptly fell in Mike's arms.
