    Problems?

I've noticed in the past couple of days that some of you have expressed that you've been having problems viewing my new site.  I'm not sure what is going on.

I had been worried because I though some weren't visiting me because I had moved to Blogger.

I want to hear from you if you have been having problems leaving comments or registering with Blogger - I do still check this site often so if you leave comments here I do read them.  I also have my email address that you can send things to:  mtcw78@hotmail.com

Please let me know because now I'm wondering if I made the right decision to move to Blogger.

    Good-bye, Farewell

Well I'm sorry to say that I am leaving MSN Spaces.  With all of the new changes that have happened it takes me over 15 minutes just to view my site.  If I try to edit/change/add anything to my site on average it takes me over an hour.  And with a little one I can't allow myself to spend that much time just doing one simple task.
For the last month or so I have been playing around with Blogger and I'm starting to really like it.  I don't know much about HTML but thankfully Mike took some college classes about it so he's been a huge help!
The blog isn't completely set up yet, but it's pretty close to being finished.  I've been working on it all weekend - I hope you like the new site and that you'll continue to visit me.  I, of course, will still come by and comment on your site's.  Please, please, please continue to visit me at the new spot (I need the attention!).

    Naked Baby On Deck!

Yesterday we had a little Logan running around naked on the deck.  It was so cute!!  Mike was outside pressure washing our deck and Logan went out to see what Daddy was up to.  Well, once he saw the water he wanted to play in it.  At first he would just splash it with his hands but before I knew it he was sitting in it - getting completely soaked.  I decided at that moment to strip him down with no pants or diaper on.  So for awhile Logan was running around like this:

Pretty soon though his shirt was completely soaked and getting dirty from Logan sitting/falling on the deck.  At that point I figured I might as well strip off his shirt too.  He had a blast!!  I think he was out on the deck for at least 45 minutes just playing in the water and sitting in his empty pool.  Occasionally Mike would "mist" Logan with the water.  He is turning into a little waterbug.  If there is water nearby, Logan is in it.

    No Girls Allowed

Before Logan was born Mike & I did some shopping at Ikea for some accessories for his room.  We had finally decided to decorate his room with a castle theme and one of my friends said that Ikea had some shelves that would look great in the room.  We not only found some shelves but we found some "torches" that flickered, a dragon that hangs on the wall and to top it all Mike built him the coolest changing table/desk/bookcase ever!!

While we were at Ikea Mike also found a castle tent.  We knew Logan wouldn't be interested in it for quite awhile but we bought it anyway.  A couple days after his birthday Mike decided to set it up in the living room and Logan absolutely loves it!  But he will only play in it if Mike joins him.  It's like their secret fort.........one in which I'm not allowed!

Here is the game that they enjoy to play - Mike crawls in the castle and Logan follows.  Then Logan peeks out the windows to see where I'm at.  I slowly crawl up to the castle and "scare" him.  Logan then giggles and crawls/runs/flings his entire body onto Mike.  He would play this game for hours if Mike & I had the patience to entertain him for that long.  Oh, and he also has his "army" in the castle for added protection.  It consists of a duck, bunny, frog, tiger, and whale.

Even though I'm not allowed in the castle it is such a joy to watch how much fun Logan has playing this game.  He giggles, screams, and presses his face up against the windows.  Sometimes they'll close the door and that's when I reach in and grab Logan's leg and slowly pull him out!

There is a new video up of Logan & Mike in the castle - enjoy!!

I submitted my photos in for the contest.  I decided to enter "Tub Time" and "Baby in the Mirror".  I won't know if I win until April 2007!

    Happy Bloggaversary To Me!

One year ago today I began writing in this blog.  It's been such a fun year - I've gotten to know so many interesting people and I've met some that I now consider friends.  I love reading about what is going on with other bloggers and I love all the advice that I've received - especially when it comes to Logan.  This has also been a great way for me to chronicle what's been going on with Logan.  I've been able to write about all of his accomplishments and this has helped me keep his baby book up to date.  Happy Bloggaversary  Mike & Tanya's Corner of the World!!

Here is my very first blog:

    Our new arrival

Logan Michael made his appearane into the world on August 4th, 2005 at 1:09 pm.  Logan weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19" long.  We stayed in the hospital until Saturday August 6th.  It's amazing that even though he's only 6 days old he already has his own unique personality.  I can see ways in which he takes after me, for example when he wants something, he wants it right away.  He hates to wait for stuff, if he's hungry he wants to eat right now!!  Just like the experts say, he loves laying on our chests.  It doesn't seem to matter who is holding him as long as he can lay and sleep without being disturbed.  Right now as I'm typing this he's laying on my chest, sleeping away.  We have been blessed the past couple of nights, Logan has slept for about 5 hours straight.  Until Sunday night he had his days and nights kind of mixed up.  Sunday night he was up from about 11-4 am.  It was a rough night for all 3 of us.
Having a new baby is definitely a learning experience.  They demand so much of us and in the beginning it's such a guessing game, is he hungry? wet? overtired?  We are slowly starting to understand his routine.  It seems that he likes to eat about every 2-3 hours.  And when he eats he's a snacker

Parenting magazing is having a photo contest and I'm thinking of entering.  I can't decide which photo to submit of Logan though.  There are too many cute ones (yes, my baby is too photogenic).  Hahahaha.  Please help me decide between these photos:

    Happy Birthday Logan

    Dear Logan,

I can't believe you are already one year old.  The time has gone by so fast!  Before too long you'll be asking to borrow the car for the night and I'm not quite sure if I can handle that.  You've grown up so much in just these last couple of months alone.  You're beginning to walk more by yourself and you've mastered the stairs going both up and down them constantly.
I can't believe that one year ago today your Daddy & I were on our way to the hospital to have you.  You were due on August 6th but we were able to convince the doctor to have me induced on the 4th.  The doctor thought this was a great idea since my uterus was measuring big and they were worried you would be over 9 pounds.  I think I was more worried than they were though because I could not imagine pushing out a 9 pound baby!
We arrived at the hospital at 6 am on the morning of August 4th.  I was so nervous!  Our room had been prepared for us and when we walked in I noticed all kinds of machines.  We spent the first 1 1/2 hours filling out paperwork and getting situated.  They strapped a baby monitor around my belly to see how you were doing in there.  The nurse asked how I was feeling and I said fine.  She gave me a weird look and I was worried something was wrong - but she was looking at me funny because I was having contractions that were about 2 minutes apart and I didn't really notice them.  She then decided to check to see if I was dialated and guess what?  I was dialated about 4-5 cm!!  She gave the doctor a call and then hooked me up to the pitocin.  The doctor arrived around 9 to check how things had progressed.  He said everything looked to be going great and said he would be back in a little while - he was going to go home and would be back in a couple of hours.  Less than an hour later though he was back.  He was worried that I would have the baby without him there because I was progressing faster than usual.  (Which to me was a very good thing!!)
At around 10 am I decided that I needed to get some drugs in my system.  Stuff was beginning to hurt!!  They called the anesthesiologist and shortly thereafter I was beginning to feel good again.  But then the contractions really started up and it was hurting.  The doctor called him back in but was told he couldn't give me anymore medicine.  I already had my limit.  (Apparently redheads have a high tolerance of pain and because of this sometimes an epidural does not work as well as it should - lucky me huh?)  By around 11 o'clock I was ready to push.  At first I didn't really know what I was doing but then after a couple pushes I could feel things (ie - you) moving.  I began pushing as hard as I could.  Each time I would push your Daddy and the doctor would get very excited.  Afterwards your Daddy told me it was because he could see your head come out and then it would go back in.  They kept telling me, "just one more big push - you can do it".  But it seemed like they said that about 10 times.  Finally though at a little after 1 pm you arrived.
At first I didn't look at you because I didn't hear you cry but then Daddy told me you were perfect.  Everything was where it was supposed to be.  The doctor went over to you and checked you out and said that you were a perfectly healthy boy.  Then he asked what your name was going to be.   Your Daddy & I had narrowed it down to Logan Michael or Connor Michael.  Daddy had a brilliant idea and decided to ask you what we should name you.  He first asked if Logan was a good name - no reaction.  But when he asked you about Connor you made a really angry face.  So Logan it was then!
I never realized I could love someone so much!  Everyday my love for you grows and it will continue growing until the end of time.  You are my precious baby boy and I wouldn't trade you for anything in the world.  I'm so glad we decided to become parents.  I was worried I wouldn't know how to take care of you but like everyone says it's a learning experience and you just know what is right for your child.  I can't wait to see what this next year brings for us.  I love you Logan - happy birthday!!

    Love,
      Mommy

    A Day At The Zoo

Today we decided to take a little trip to the Woodland Park Zoo.  We thought Logan would really enjoy it since he liked the one in Bismarck.  We were correct - he had a blast!  Even though some of the animals weren't cooperating very much he still enjoyed watching them.  He really liked the bears and the elephants.  I think he had an even better time looking at all the people that were there - especially the girls.  He would be sitting in his stroller and when a little girl walked by or came by in her stroller he would just start jabbering at her.  I think we'll be in for it once he becomes a teenager and really likes the girls!
Sadly, for Mike & I the zoo was not as enjoyable.  Since it was pretty warm here today the animals didn't really want to do too much so almost all of them were just laying around sleeping.  We did get to see the wolves out today though - which is a very rare occurance.  I think we had a better time people watching though!  There were so many cute kids running around just having a blast.  It was pretty entertaining.  And I think it was "field trip day to the zoo".  Almost everywhere we went we would see a group of at least 10 kids with a couple of chaperones wearing the exact same shirts.  Most of them were well behaved but when we first got to the zoo there was a group from Taipei, Taiwan and they were out of control.  They were pushing other people away from the viewing glass so they could get a better view and they would run from one exhibit to the next.  After the second time of us running into them we decided we had to move to a different area of the zoo.  We thought we had gotten away when we rounded a corner and BOOM! there they were - except it wasn't the same group of people!  Just more people from the same overall group - it seems they were doing a "divide and conquer the zoo".  We did manage to get away from them after that and then the morning became much more enjoyable.
We went on the carousel that they have there.  It was made in 1918 and is really beautiful.  It was such a great day and a nice little birthday gift for Logan.  Check out the new photo album titled "Day at the Zoo"!

*I've been busy getting ready for Logan's party - it probably won't be too big but we are having some people over.  I got the cake baked last night and will frost it on Friday.  I hope it turns out as well as the test one did!*

**I put up the recipes for August - hope you try them out.**

    Some Updates

There is FINALLY a new video up!!  Hope you enjoy it and Mo don't forget to watch carefully at the beginning!!  He's playing on the website of

No cute stories here today so I'll just give some quick updates:
    • Logan is taking more & more steps on his own.  He's getting braver - not quite sure if it's a good thing or bad thing yet.
    • He has a new favorite animal.  His Uncle Taylor had bought him a little stuffed tiger that is SO soft.  Logan drags it around constantly.
    • He loves to give his stuffed animals kisses.  He'll lean down towards their nose with his mouth open and just quickly touch them with his lips.  It is so adorable.  He won't give me a kiss though.
    • Does any one else's child do this:  when Logan is crawling around (most of the time) he will put a toy in each of his hands and crawl around with them.  For example, right now he is crawling around with a plastic ball in each hand.  Don't you think this would make it more difficult to get somewhere?  Yesterday he was pushing a toy truck with one hand and pushing a tupperware container with the other.
    • He also loves to walk around with a slinky hanging out of his mouth so that he looks like an elephant.
    • Logan has a new favorite book.  I checked it out from the library this last week and I think I'll have to go buy it.  It's called Row, Row, Row Your Boat (it's listed under Logan's favorites on the left hand side).  He gets the giggles if you bounce him on your knee while you're reading it.  He's really beginning to enjoy books.
    • We are getting ready for his birthday which is now just a week away.  I can't believe how fast it has gone by!

    When Will It End?

I am SO ready for summer to be over with.  It is so blasted hot here!  Yes, I realize that it is hot all over the US but that doesn't affect me now does it?  Besides, most other places have A/C - which is virtually unheard of in the Pacific NW.  It was miserable this weekend with the average temperature being around 93.  And we didn't even get that much relief at night - it still remained in the 70's.  Thank goodness we had 6 fans running in the house 24/7 (they're still on).
My poor family who came to visit - I felt so bad for them since we didn't really do much while they were here.  (They are the same ones that came from Canada for Easter.)  On Saturday they went down and picked up their new dog.  He's a 4-year-old Beagle and he's really cute.  We're thinking he might be having an identity crisis though because I don't think he knows what his name is.  His first name was Colonel, then Seth, and my Aunt wants to call him Nelson.  We'll see which one works.  Him and Pooh got along well - as long as Pooh wasn't trying to hump him.  It's so embarrasing when another dog is over at our house because no matter the size, breed, or gender our dog will try to hump the other one to death.  And you would think he would learn because at the end of the day Pooh Bear can barely make it up the stairs to the bedroom because he's so damn sore.  My Aunt Gail and I went over to Woodinville for a little while and did some shopping.  I found some lampshades for the guest bedroom and we bought some beads to dress them up a bit.  Once I finish putting the room together I'll take some final pictures.
Sunday we woke up to another hot day.  That afternoon Jim, Dakota, and Mike went to Superman over in Everett.  Logan napped for a bit and once he woke up Gail, Logan, and I went over to Lake Stevens and then over to Everett for a bit.  We came home in the late afternoon and just relaxed.
The weatherman is saying the heat is supposed to be leaving us but I'll believe it when I see/feel it.  I hate waking up in the morning and instantly being hot.  I've showered so many times this weekend I think our water bill will be double what it normally is.  I just hope the heat leaves us before we have Logan's birthday because otherwise his cake will be coming from the store since there is no way I will be turning the oven on!
    July 20

    It's All Done!

The bedroom is finished!  And I think it looks great.  I finished it at 3 o'clock today and I thought I was going to die from the heat.  Of course it HAD to get over 90 here today and since I was painting a room that faces south the heat was beating down on me the whole time.  Thank goodness I only had to do one coat on the window wall - I had done the other coats Wednesday.  The pictures are just of the walls.  I haven't hung the curtains yet or put everything back to where it belongs.  My family will be arriving early tomorrow evening though so I don't have much time to get it done.  I think I need to do all my home improvement projects with this type of deadline!
My Aunt, Uncle, and soon-to-be 5 year old cousin will be here tomorrow.  They are coming down from Canada (they were here for Easter) to pick up a dog for Dakota's birthday.  They found a Beagle for free on Craigslist down here and figured it would be a good reason to come visit and Dakota would get a dog.  I just hope everything is OK with the dog - I made a vet appointment for him so that they can get him checked out before they leave.

    Project Time!!

When do home improvement projects ever end??  I'm just wondering because it seems like we'll have something upgraded or improved but then once that one thing is done we need to do another two or three things so that the improvement is officially finished.  Let me explain:
We've had our new windows for about 3 weeks and I have since bought some new curtains.  And today I made the decision to paint in the spare bedroom.  The previous owner's of the house had painted sections of the room a light blue.  I'm finally painting it to match the comforter that we have in there.  I decided just to paint the wall with the window on it and the doorway (this area was also painted blue).  Here are the before pictures - hopefully the after ones will be up by tomorrow or Thursday.  We have some family coming into town on Friday so it definitely needs to be done by then.  Wish me luck!

    Updates on Logan

I have no stories to tell so I'll just update everyone on what Logan's been up to:

    • Logan took a couple more steps yesterday.  We hope he'll be walking before his first birthday.
    • I've found that a bath will get rid of Logan's "smurf bum" - that and a lot of scrubbing.
    • Logan has finally mastered going down the stairs.  It's so cute to watch because he'll completely straighten himself out so that he can slide down quite quickly.
    • When Logan is done going up and down the stairs (countless times) he will then clap for himself.
    • In our truck we have a baby mirror that we used while Logan was still facing backward in the car.  We still have the mirror up but now instead of us seeing him he can now look at himself.  He loves this and will often erupt in giggles just by watching himself.
    • If he thinks he is being especially funny he will slap his knees - giving himself a knee-slapper.
    • Logan is also "dancing" now too - when he plays with his leapfrog or little toy saxophone he'll bob up and down to the music.  It is so cute and funny!
    • Logan's rash is almost all cleared up so I do think it was from the Sulfa.
    • Today is the last day of antibiotic for Logan's ear infection - yay!!
    • Have I mentioned how kissable he is?  Logan is very, very kissable!
    July 16

Do you think Shout! will get it out??

Saturday Logan & I hit one of the fruit stands out of town.  We found some yummy stuff including blueberries, cherries, peaches, and a honeylope.  A honeylope is a cross between a cantaloupe and a honeydew.  If you ever see one of these buy it - they are awesome!!
As soon as we got home I gave Logan some blueberries to see if he would like them.  He not only liked them - he devoured them!!  He couldn't eat them fast enough.  I am so happy he is such a good fruit eater.  I have yet to find a fruit that he won't eat.
This morning though we got to see  what happens when a baby eats nothing but blueberries the day before.  Let me just tell you, his diaper was black.  Yup, he ate so many blueberries it came out black.  Lovely huh?  Well that's not the best part.  Later today when we went to change the second poopy diaper of the day his butt was stained - purple.  Yes, Logan has a purple butt right now.  So I ask you - what do you recommend to un-stain your babies bottom?  All suggestions/comments welcomed.

BTW-Mike is now referring to him as "Smurf bum"
    July 14

    A Doctor's Visit

Today I took Logan into the doctor - he developed a rash on his back.  We're pretty sure it's from the antibiotic (Sulpha) that was prescribed to him at the ER.  Our doctor has now switched him to Amoxicillin - hopefully the rash will go away.  He wasn't affected by it but it was a little disgusting when I would wash his back and it was all................bumpy.
On the plus side the doctor said the ear infection is almost gone.  Logan will just need to be on the medicine for another 5 days.
Oh, I have new video to put up but FileLodge has a 2 mb limit right now instead of their usual 50 mb.  Wait until you see it - Mo you are going to love it!!  He does something just for you at the beginning of it - can you catch it??  Hopefully I'll be able to upload it next week.

    ??It's Nice To See You??

Have you ever had a boss/manager that if you never saw them again that would be fine?  Yeah, me too - I think we've all had them.  Well, I saw mine today.  Logan was feeling better this morning so I decided to run over to Everett to go to Michael's.  I wanted to buy the cake pan for his birthday cake.  Logan & I walk through the door and I see him.  I instantly turned the other way.  I finished my shopping, paid, and was out the door - without having to talk to him (or so I thought).  I got Logan out of the cart and then made the mistake of taking the cart back into the store.  He was standing Right.By.The.Door.  I was hoping he didn't notice me, but of course I'm not that lucky!  We made some small talk and then I used the excuse that I better get Logan home for a nap.  I was actually impressed with myself that I was so civil.
So, wanna know why he was such a bad manager?  He hardly ever let anyone take time off, especially department managers (which is what I was), he was completely condescending to his employees, and he was sexist.  But the worst thing of all?  My uncle passed away suddenly in November of 2000 and I took emergency leave to go back to ND for the funeral.  I was gone for 5 days.  My parents and brother came out for Christmas that year and I had put in the vacation request before he passed away.  About 2 weeks before my family was to come out he informed me that I could not take the vacation anymore.  I asked why and his response was, "You just saw them in November."  I informed him that that was an unexpected visit - if you could even call it that.  He still told me that I would not be able to take the time-off.  I somehow managed to take a couple of days off by switching my schedule with some of the other managers and coming in early to do my ordering.  Somehow I managed to continue working there until June of 2001.  I finally put in my notice and took the summer off before I began working at the bank.  EVERYTIME I asked to take time off for family though he would always say that to me.  What a jerk huh?
    **Sidenote**
He doesn't even work at the store that I was at - he was helping them out for a couple of days.  See how luck I can be?
